About the Website

This website is a forum for disseminating aspects of my research into mystical theology, religion and spirituality in seventeenth-century England. Just as the Philadelphian's used their Theosophical Transactions to inform their readers of newly published books they would be interested in, as well as accounts of religious experience, this site aims to publish similar articles for the modern reader.

These articles will take many forms. I aim to publish articles on specific 'mystics' throughout history, review new books concerning mystical theology or similar subjects, and report from conferences I have attended. All the articles written for this site will be based on several years of PhD and archival research, and will attempt to discuss sources the reader would otherwise not have had access to without visiting specific archives personally.

Although focus will be given to the seventeenth century, articles will attempt to be as broad and comprehensive as possible. To ensure variety, some articles may address medieval works of mystical theology, or indeed modern ones. If readers have requests for specific articles or book reviews, they can contact me at: liamtemple@hotmail.co.uk.
